Hi, I'm Chissy: Houston native, lifelong lover of beautiful experiences, and the founder of Amaka Events & Experiences.
For more than eight years, I've had the privilege of working behind the scenes of some of life's most meaningful celebrations. With 100+ weddings under my belt, my experience spans wedding coordination, venue operations, vendor management, event logistics, guest experience, and the beautiful, and sometimes wonderfully chaotic, details that make a celebration come together.
I've coordinated weddings across three different venue companies, giving me an inside look at events from multiple perspectives. I know what it means to work within a venue's rules and rhythms, communicate with a wide range of vendors, navigate last-minute changes, manage timelines, and keep a celebration moving without allowing the couple to feel the pressure happening behind the scenes.
No two celebrations are ever the same. I've worked with couples with different traditions, family dynamics, cultures, faiths, personalities, priorities, and ideas of what their wedding day should feel like. My experience with multicultural weddings has taught me that the details that may seem small from the outside can hold enormous meaning for the people celebrating.
Whether it's incorporating multiple cultural traditions into one celebration, navigating different family expectations, coordinating several ceremonies or events, managing a large vendor team, or simply making sure an important tradition happens exactly as intended, I approach every wedding with curiosity, respect, and intention.
I don't believe there is one “right” way to celebrate. Your wedding should feel like you.
My job is to understand your vision, anticipate the details, and create the structure that allows that vision to unfold beautifully.
My approach comes from years of seeing what happens before, during, and after an event. I understand how quickly a beautiful timeline can unravel when one vendor is running behind. I know why communication between the venue, caterer, DJ, photographer, florist, and planner matters. I know the difference between a small problem that can be handled quietly and one that needs immediate attention.
I've seen the moments guests never notice, and that's exactly the point. When coordination is done well, the couple shouldn't know about the missing boutonnière, the delayed delivery, the vendor who took a wrong turn, the timeline that needed adjusting, or the unexpected change happening behind the scenes. They should simply remember that their day felt effortless.
That is the experience I want to create for every Amaka couple.
I've always been drawn to experiences: the anticipation leading up to something special, the details that make people feel considered, the energy of a room coming alive, and the stories people take with them when the event is over.
I'm an avid traveler, and exploring new countries and cultures has given me an even greater appreciation for the way people gather, celebrate, eat, entertain, dress, and create memories. I'm endlessly inspired by beautiful hotels, destination experiences, architecture, design, food, and the little details that make a place feel unforgettable.
I also have a deep love for theatre and the performing arts, which probably explains a lot about the way I approach events. There is something magical about watching a production come together: the lighting, the pacing, the transitions, the performers, the set, the music, and all of the work happening backstage that the audience never sees.
Events are a lot like theatre. There is a story. There is a beginning, a middle, and a finale. There are countless moving pieces. And there is an entire team working behind the scenes to make the experience feel seamless.
I happen to love being backstage.
When I'm not coordinating celebrations, you'll probably find me planning my next trip, watching a great show, getting lost in a good story, exploring beautiful spaces, trying something new, or spending time with the people I love.
I'm a Houston native, and I'm proud to call this city home. Houston's diversity, food, culture, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit have shaped the way I see celebrations: there is beauty in bringing different people, traditions, personalities, and perspectives together.
I'm also someone who genuinely loves the details. The stationery. The tablescape. The perfectly timed entrance. The thoughtful guest experience. The hotel that makes you never want to leave. The tiny detail that only ten people notice, but those ten people will remember forever.
Amaka was created from a simple belief: you shouldn't have to manage your celebration in order to enjoy it.
After years of working in events, I saw how often couples spent months planning a beautiful wedding only to arrive at the day and become the project manager, problem solver, vendor liaison, and unofficial event staff. I wanted to create something different.
Amaka is about intentional moments, seamless experiences, and lasting memories. It's about giving couples the confidence that someone experienced is paying attention: someone who knows what questions to ask, understands vendors and venues, has seen hundreds of timelines unfold, can anticipate the little things, and genuinely cares about how the experience feels, not just whether everything technically happened.
A wedding coordinator is there to bring your plans to life, not create an entirely new plan for you.
At Amaka, we step in during the final weeks leading up to your celebration to organize the details you've already planned, coordinate your vendors, manage the timeline, and oversee the flow of your wedding day.
From the first vendor arrival to the final farewell, we're behind the scenes making sure the right people are in the right place at the right time, so you can be fully present for your celebration.
You planned the celebration. We make sure it unfolds beautifully.
While these roles often work closely together, they serve different purposes.
An event designer or decorator focuses on the visual environment of your celebration: designing and creating the aesthetic, sourcing décor, building installations, and transforming the space.
A wedding coordinator focuses on logistics and execution. We manage the timeline, coordinate your vendors, oversee transitions, and make sure the plans you've created are carried out seamlessly.
Amaka's coordination services include limited setup of client-provided personal décor and details, but we are not a decorating or installation service.
If your celebration includes extensive décor, large installations, complex tablescapes, or significant setup and breakdown, we recommend hiring a professional decorator or dedicated setup/breakdown team. This allows our team to stay focused on what we do best: creating a seamless experience from beginning to end.
Yes, with some thoughtful boundaries. Our coordinators can place small, ready-to-go personal details such as:
For the smoothest experience, all items should arrive fully assembled, clearly labeled, and ready for placement.
Our coordination service does not include:
If your design requires significant installation or setup, we recommend arranging a dedicated décor or setup team. The more prepared your details are when we arrive, the more seamlessly we can bring them to life.
A venue coordinator and a wedding coordinator have two very different roles. Your venue coordinator represents the venue. They typically oversee the facility, venue staff, venue policies, and the venue's responsibilities.
Your Amaka coordinator represents you. We're focused on your timeline, your vendors, your personal details, your wedding party, and the experience you're creating for your guests. For example, your Amaka coordinator may:
Your venue coordinator is there to protect and manage the venue experience. Your Amaka coordinator is there to protect and manage your celebration.
Absolutely. Your timeline is one of the most important tools we use to create a seamless wedding day. We'll review and refine the final timeline, communicate important timing with your vendors, and monitor the schedule throughout the celebration.
If something shifts, which occasionally happens on a wedding day, we'll work with the appropriate vendors to make thoughtful adjustments while keeping the overall experience moving forward.
Our goal isn't simply to watch the clock. It's to make sure you never have to.
Yes. As your wedding approaches, Amaka will become a central point of contact for your event-day vendors. We'll help confirm logistics, clarify responsibilities, communicate timing, and ensure everyone understands where they need to be and when.
On the wedding day, we'll coordinate with your vendor team so you don't have to spend your celebration answering logistical questions.
Yes. Your Lead Coordinator will remain onsite for your contracted coordination hours, with the event timeline established in advance and the contracted service ending no later than midnight.
Our goal is to remain with you through the important closing moments of your celebration and ensure your event concludes as smoothly as it began.
Our team will oversee the end-of-night load-out and cleanup process, but coordination services do not include general janitorial or trash-removal services. We'll help ensure that:
However, trash removal, bussing tables, washing dishes, moving furniture, and extensive cleanup require the appropriate venue or hired staff.
We don't want you, or your wedding party, to spend the final moments of your celebration cleaning up. Our team will coordinate the process so you can head to your after-party, enjoy your final moments with your guests, and leave the logistics to us.
Amaka will gather and organize your designated personal items at the end of the evening and prepare them for pickup. However, the client must designate a responsible person and vehicle to transport those belongings after the event.
We recommend choosing someone who is not part of the wedding party whenever possible, so your closest people can enjoy the celebration without being responsible for logistics.
Our coordinators are happy to assist with reasonable, light event-day tasks within the scope of coordination. However, we do not move heavy furniture, large structures, or equipment.
If your celebration requires significant physical setup, furniture movement, installation, or teardown, a dedicated setup/breakdown team should be arranged. This allows our coordinators to remain focused on your timeline, vendors, guests, and overall experience.
That depends on the coordination experience you select.
Our Week-of Coordination service is designed for couples who have planned their celebration and want an experienced professional to take over the logistics as the wedding approaches. The first meeting is scheduled 12 days out at the earliest.
Our Month-of Coordination provides additional support during the final weeks.
Our 3-Month Partial Planning + Day-of Coordination experience allows us to become involved earlier and provide more hands-on planning guidance.
We'll help determine which level of support makes the most sense for your celebration during the consultation process.
Absolutely, but the level of support depends on where you are in the planning process. Our coordination services are designed primarily for couples who have already made many of their major planning decisions. If you need more hands-on guidance, our 3-Month Partial Planning + Day-of Coordination package may be the better fit.
If you're looking for full-service planning from beginning to end, we're happy to discuss your needs during your consultation and determine whether Amaka is the right fit.
Yes, when included in your selected package. An assistant coordinator works alongside your Lead Coordinator to provide additional coverage throughout the celebration. This allows our team to divide responsibilities, stay attentive to multiple areas of the event, and provide a more seamless experience for you and your guests.
Additional hours may be available depending on your event and team availability. Because we believe in creating a thoughtful experience around each celebration, additional coverage is arranged on a case-by-case basis and confirmed before your event.
We recommend reaching out as soon as you have your date and venue secured. Our availability varies depending on the season and the complexity of your celebration. The earlier you inquire, the more likely we are to have availability for your preferred date.
That said, if your wedding is approaching quickly, don't hesitate to reach out. If we're available, we'd love to explore how we can support you.
Once we receive your inquiry, we'll review your celebration details and reach out regarding next steps.
If we're a good fit, you'll be invited to schedule The Amaka Consultation, a private conversation where we'll learn more about your vision, discuss your priorities, and determine the level of support that will serve you best.
From there, we'll create a personalized proposal outlining your services and investment.
Inquiry → Consultation → Proposal → Booking → Celebration
We believe luxury is found in how an experience feels. Our approach is intentional, organized, and deeply personal. We don't simply follow a timeline; we pay attention to the moments within it.
From the way your guests are welcomed to the way your vendors move behind the scenes, we're constantly considering how each detail contributes to the overall experience.
Our role is to create the structure that allows you to let go, be present, and enjoy the celebration you've worked so hard to create.
Every celebration has a story. We'd love to hear yours.
Share your event details, your vision, and the level of support you're looking for. After you submit, you'll be invited to schedule a consultation.
